Think about the times you shared a strong opinion in the past month. Did your partner hear and validate your message, or did they dismiss, minimize, ignore, or quickly move past your concern?
For example: You said the current division of household chores is burning you out. Did anything actually change, or did the topic just evaporate?
Consistent, genuine emotional validation contributes to your shared "emotional bank account." This provides a buffer of positivity and trust that protects the relationship during stressful periods.
